Anger Management [2003]

Anger Management [2003]
The irresistible pairing of Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler is the best reason to see Anger Management, a comedy that might have been subtitled “The Funny and the Furious”. Nicholson and especially Sandler have screen personas that partially rely on pent-up anxieties, so there’s definite potential in teaming them as a mild-mannered designer of pet clothing for chubby cats (Sandler) who’s been ordered to undergo anger management therapy with a zany counsellor (Nicholson) prone to occasional tantrums and devious manipulation. Surely this meandering comedy looked better on the page; director Peter Segal scores a few lucky scenes (particularly Sandler’s encounter with a Buddhist monk, played by John C Reilly), but a flood of cameos (Heather Graham, Woody Harrelson, Rudolph Giuliani, and others) can’t match the number of laughs that fall flat. As Sandler’s understanding girlfriend, Marisa Tomei plays a pivotal role in a happy ending that leaves everyone smiling, with the possible exception of the audience. –Jeff Shannon

Customer Review: Sandler and Nickolson make a great team
I absolutely love Sandler and Nickolson but when they work together they make a fantastic double act!

I have never laughed so much in my life as I did during some of the scenes in this film. It is very well written with some hysterical moments of pure comedy.

I recommend this to any Sandler fan, it is an enjoyable watch wit some witty characters.

Customer Review: “I’M CALM!”
You either like Adam Sandler or you don’t but you must love Jack Nicholson! Anger Management pits the two men together as David (Adam Sandler) gets himself ordered to enter an anger management programme after ‘assaulting’ an airline stewardess. Enter the man who runs the course none other than the brilliant Jack Nicholson as Buddy. The humour stems from the fact that Buddy seems to be more nutty and rude than the generally soft spoken David.

Like I said, you either like Adam Sandler’s humour or not. I thought it was a reasonably entertaining movie and it does have an interesting plot twist which is rare in most modern comedies.
